Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been achieved on hard surfaces
A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his first title for nearly 30 months with success over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.
The athlete, a former world number one, has endured a torrid period, winning just a single victory at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the New York tournament.
Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and struggles with his service game in particular - resulted in him dropping out of the world's top 10 and ultimately parting ways with long-term trainer his previous coach.
Currently working with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over opponent Corentin Moutet.
It is his initial title following the Rome competition and first on a hardcourt since spring of 2023.
Success also signifies the Russian has won 21 championships at twenty-one distinct events.
"It's the first time I have attended a event with my two daughters simultaneously, so to win a championship is really nice," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.
"This championship is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter her name was born was for her."
Medvedev, the past champion, had lost his past six finals, including in that event previously this season.
Medvedev's defensive approach and recurring emotional displays on the tennis court had caused commentators to question if his skill to perform at the elite level was over.
However the athlete has altered his approach in the past month, attempting to approach the net and perform assertively, supported by an enhanced serving game.
He recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, securing 4 of the last five points to go ahead.
The competitors swapped service breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first tour title, took control to create a final set.
He saved 4 early-game break points in a close deciding set before Medvedev broke to 15 to close out the victory.
Suitably, the winner secured victory with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to handle a volley after a lengthy match.
